How do we Christians face the overwhelming issues of today?

Shalom,

How do we Christians face the overwhelming issues of today?

Gender

Marriage

Parenting

Money

Crime

Drug Abuse

Global Warming

Social Upheaval

Political Uncertainty

And yet, stay holy and blameless before God!

Is it possible to live right, and not compromise our position?

What seems impossible to us, is possible with God.

Background

The Conflict of Man-Mind vs Body

We lose!

Apostle Paul described himself as someone who struggled with the body; his old sinful nature with the tendency to sin.

Romans 7:19

“ For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.”

For the mind knows and understands what is good (the Law of God),

For the inner being delights in the law of God!

But, there is another law (of sin) working in our body that wars against the law (of God)

that our mind approves of.

“O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this…?” said of Paul.(Romans 7:24)

The Spirit-Filled life-Triumphant Life

We win!

Our victory over the body and the control of the mind is valiantly described for us in;

Romans 8.

This supernatural life is accorded to those born of the Spirit of Christ!

  1. It is a life in union with Christ, whom we give preeminence.
  2. Living according to the Holy Spirit,
  3. Having the attitude to please God and to obey His commandments.

Apostle Paul knew what it meant to have Jesus in his life. Born a Jew, by tradition he was very well versed with the Law and the Prophets and by scholarship a Pharisee. His knowledge was unsurpassed, yet in his service to God, he was zealous for the wrong cause, senselessly persecuting the followers of Jesus. Until, he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus!

From then on, Paul began anew and lived not relying on his own wisdom or head knowledge, but that of the mind of Christ.

When Paul established the church in Corinth, he preached not by way of appealing to the intellect of the  people of Corinth or by words of persuasion, but by the Holy Spirit and in the power!

1 Corinthians 2:1-4 (KJV)

1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:-

Application

We are indeed privilege to have the mind of Christ that sets us on the path of victory!

Let’s walk in the Spirit, in the power of the Holy Spirit!

Come what may, the issues we face will turn out to be non issues in Christ!

May Christ be given pre-eminence!
