THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (Modern English):-
A) WHAT IS THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN THE BIBLE?
The Ten Commandments was given by God to Moses when he was on the Mount Sinai. At this time, these people of Israel had left Egypt for three months. God personally engraved His Ten Commandments on the stone tablets:-
Exodus 31:18 King James Version (KJV)
18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
God gave these Ten Commandments for us to obey. However, Jesus added two more commandments (Matthew 22:35–40, Mark 12:28–34 and Luke 10:27) which we will further elaborate as you read on. These are the basic commandments that we begin with once we start our walk with our Father in heaven once we accepted Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. It is good to memorize them. Perhaps you can write them on a sticky note paper or print them out and put it somewhere (example: fridge / study desk / the wall beside your bed ) to help you recite them whenever you can. Once you have memorized them, you can pass your sticky note paper to someone else to help them memorize.

6) You must not commit murder. (VERSE 13)

8) You must not steal. (VERSE 15)
9) Do not lie. (VERSE 16)
10) You must not desire to posses anything that belongs to another person. (VERSE 17)
C) THE TEN COMMANDMENTS EXPLAINED:-
Commandment no. 1) You shall have no other gods but Me.
= DO NOT PRAY TO OTHER ‘gods’ EXCEPT FOR THE ONE AND ONLY GOD. The Bible stated clearly in many different verses in different books of the Bible that there is only ONE GOD (I AM). Below are the Bible scriptures:-
BIBLE VERSES ON ‘I AM’ (GOD)

Isaiah 44:24 King James Version (KJV)
Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
Isaiah 46:9 King James Version (KJV)

John 8:58 King James Version (KJV)
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
John 14:6 King James Version (KJV)
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:11 King James Version (KJV)

Revelation 1:8 King James Version (KJV)

Jesus and God are one:-
John 10:30 King James Version (KJV)
I and my Father are one.
Commandment no. 2) You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.
= DO NOT PRAY (WORSHIP) TO any other people or thing besides the ONE AND TRUE LIVING GOD. In short, anything that comes between you and God is an idol.
idols (noun) = an image or representation of a god or even someone used as an object of worship.
Examples: any statue / statue of Mary / statue of Jesus / statue of saints / statue of a hero / statue of a golden cow / a doll / a rock / a tree / a handsome boyfriend/ a gorgeous girlfriend / image / icon / likeness / relic / fetish / false god / figure / figurine /carving / graven image / effigy / hero / heroine / totem / star / superstar / celebrity
Commandment no. 3) You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
= DO NOT use God’s name wrongly or lightly or mock God by using God’s name in jokes or in daily routine simple verbal expressions. Examples: “Oh my God, this cup is so cute.” “Jesus! You scared me!”
Commandment no. 4) You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.
= SET ONE DAY ASIDE FOR GOD TO REMEMBER TO REST IN HIM. God worked 6 days and rested on the 7th day. He expects us to do the same. Reason being, sometimes we work too hard until we forget about God. There is a need to set aside one day to show God how much we love and appreciate Him.
On the Sabbath Day, believers can rest from working for a livelihood, do Holy Communion, study and meditate on the Word of God, spend more time communing with our heavenly Father / Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit with fellow believers.
Keeping Sabbath Day holy does not mean that we just lay down on the bed, doing nothing to feel holy. Jesus Himself had taught us that we are allowed to do healing and help the needy on the Sabbath Day.
What is the meaning of ‘Sabbath Day’?
Hebrew: שַׁבָּת
Transliteration: shabbath
Sabbath = Seventh day / Saturday / Yom Shabbat / Sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday
In accordance with Exodus 20:8–11, the seventh day of the week is designated as the Sabbath. The purpose of this day of rest is to remind the children of Israel that God created the universe in six days and then rested on the seventh day.
Jews observe this holy day of rest (Sabbath day) from sunset on Friday until dusk on the following day. See the days of the week in Hebrew below:-

Commandment no. 6) You must not commit murder.
= DO NOT KILL.

It can be things that can be seen with eyes like car, house, wife, husband or things that cannot be seen like talents, looks & etc. God has given different people with different gifts. Be contented with what God has blessed us with and we bless others with what we have and good at which others might not have we have.
THE GREAT COMMANDMENTS ADDED BY JESUS IN THE BIBLE:-
Commandment no. 1) Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.
Commandment no. 2) Love your neighbors (others) as yourself.
Below are the scripture references:-
Mark 12:29-31, Matthew 22:35–40, Mark 12:28–34 and Luke 10:27
Mark 12:29-31 New King James Version (NKJV)
29 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
32 So the scribe said to Him, “Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. 33 And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.”
But after that no one dared question Him.
Matthew 22:35-40 King James Version (KJV)
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mark 12:28-34 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Scribes: Which Is the First Commandment of All?
28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the first commandment of all?”
Luke 10:27 New King James Version (NKJV)
27 So he answered and said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”
THE NEW COMMANDMENT GIVEN BY JESUS CHRIST:-
John 13:34 -35 King James Version (KJV)
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
OTHER IMPORTANT COMMANDMENTS IN THE BIBLE:-
1) GOD DOES NOT APPROVE FORNICATION (SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE) AND ADULTERERS (THOSE WHO HAVE SEX WITH A PERSON WHO IS NOT THEIR SPOUSE)
Hebrews 13:4 New King James Version (NKJV)
4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
2) GOD DOES NOT APPROVE GAYS & LESBIANS
Mark 10:6-9 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Romans 1:26-28 New King James Version (NKJV)
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
Jude 5-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries.
