~~~ POINT #1 ~~~
POINT #1
NEW TESTAMENT:-
1) S = Scripture – Write down the scripture verse / verses / passage that speaks to your heart.
# THE SCRIPTURE THAT SPOKE TO MY HEART:-
Hebrews 8:6 (King James Version)
But now hath he (Christ) obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Hebrews 8:10 (King James Version)
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
and…
Hebrews 8:12 (King James Version)
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”
2) O = Observation – Explain what is your observation for instructions and understanding of what God is telling us to do in the verse or passage.
# MY OBSERVATION:-
#BetterCovenant #TheNewCovenant #JesusChristIsTheNewCovenant #Hebrews8:6
2.1) In Hebrews 8:6, Hebrews 8:10 & Hebrews 8:12 we read today, OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS REMINDING US THAT WE CAN ONLY BE GOD’S CHILDREN (GOD’S PEOPLE) THROUGH CHRIST, THE NEW COVENANT WHICH IS THE BETTER COVENANT.
 2.2) Yesterday we read about the New Covenant in Hebrews Chapter 7 and that The New Covenant is better than the Old Covenant.
The NEW COVENANT = The agreement that God had made with humankind; forgiveness through sacrifice by Jesus’ giving up His life for us all.
Luke 22:20 (King James Version)
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new testament (covenant) in my blood, which is shed for you.”
Luke 22:20 confirms that Jesus’ blood is the New Covenant. When Jesus died on the cross, His blood was shed for us. At that very moment, our sins were cleansed by His blood. We call this process as ‘Sanctification’:-
Sanctification = The action of making or declaring something holy / purification
Therefore, those who believe and accept Him as Lord and Savior receive forgiveness from God.
We will still need to obey God’s commandments in the Old Testament. God’s Covenants and God’s commandments are two different things:-
God’s commandments = God’s law, statutes and instructions.
God’s covenants = God’s promises / agreements.
In verse 10 we read earlier today, God said that He will put His laws in our minds and write them in our hearts. Thus making us His children.
QUESTION: Now how is He (God) going to do that?
ANSWER: Through His Word (The Holy Bible)
We will all have to read His Word in order for us to know all His laws to be able to obey and out them in practice. There is no other way.
Do not do the ‘cherry picking’ scripture reading, meaning random reading (not reading the entire Word of God). We need to repent from being a ‘Sunday Christian’ or ‘reading the Bible only when I feel like it Christian’.
If we want to know who God is or who Jesus Christ is, God’s laws, promises and blessings, we need to know God’s Word entirely (Hebrews 8:10).
2.3) Let us read Hebrews 8:12 again for the next point:-
Hebrews 8:12 (King James Version) “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”
This is one of the most powerful verse in the Word of God.
QUESTION: Why?
ANSWER: This is because this scripture is the best answer to many people who had been deceived by Satan saying to them that their sins are too great and that God will never forgive them.
The lesson in Hebrews 8:12 is to help those who had been deceived by Satan to understand that if they repent sincerely, God will forgive them and that He will not remember their sins.
2.4) QUESTION: How many covenants are there in the Bible?
ANSWER: There are seven covenants altogether.
Let us look into all the covenants in the Word of God to have a better understanding:-
THE SEVEN COVENANTS IN THE BIBLE:-
1) Adamic (has two parts):-
   1.1) Edenic Covenant (purity)
   1.2) the Adamic Covenant (grace)
– God promised provision. Humans were given accountability for God’s creation.
2) Noahic:-
– God assured humanity that He would never wipe out all life on the planet Earth again with a flood. The rainbow was the sign of the covenant.
3) Abrahamic:-
– God promises to Abraham.
4) Palestinian (Land Covenant):-
– God promised to prosper them.
5) Mosaic:-
– A conditional covenant. God promised blessings to those who are obedient to Him.
6) Davidic:-
– God promised David that his descendants would last forever and that his kingdom would never pass away permanently.
7) New (the covenant we are now in):-
– God promises to forgive sin. Jews and Gentiles can be set free from the penalty of sin. Everyone can receive salvation through the blood of Christ (the free gift).
3) A = Application – Explain how this scripture can be applied in our lives.
Let us remind ourselves THAT WE CAN ONLY BE GOD’S CHILDREN (GOD’S PEOPLE) THROUGH CHRIST, THE NEW COVENANT WHICH IS THE BETTER COVENANT.
4) P = Prayer – Pray (speak to Abba Father) according to the scripture and ask Him to show us how we can apply the scripture in our lives.
~ bows head in prayer ~
