Paul (Sha’ul) Remembers His Visit

2 For yourselves, brethren (fellow believers), know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:

But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated (pleaded), as ye (you) know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) to speak unto you the gospel of God (Good News of  Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) with much contention (heated disagreement).

For our exhortation (appeal) was not of deceit (delusion or impure motives), nor of uncleanness, nor in guile (cunningness):

But as we were allowed of God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), which trieth (who tests) our hearts.

For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye (you) know, nor a cloke (cloak [covering coat]) of covetousness; God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) is witness:

Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ (Mashiach).

But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth (cherishes) her children:

So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God (Good News of  Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) only, but also our own souls, because ye (you) were dear unto us.

For ye (you) remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God (Good News of  Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah).

10 Ye (You) are witnesses, and God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

11 As ye (you) know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth (does) his children,

12 That ye (you) would walk worthy of God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), who hath (has) called you unto his (His) kingdom and glory.

13 For this cause also thank we God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) without ceasing (stopping), because, when ye (you) received the word of God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) which ye (you) heard of us, ye (you) received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), which effectually worketh (effectively works) also in you that believe.

14 For ye (you), brethren (fellow believers), became followers of the churches of God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) which in Judaea (Judea) are in Christ Jesus (Mashiach Yahusha): for ye (you) also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus (Aḏon Yahusha), and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), and are contrary to all men:

16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway (always): for the wrath (extreme anger) is come upon them to the uttermost.

(NOTE: Gentiles (noun / adjective) = anyone who is not of Jewish descent or who does not believe in God [Yahuah]; heathen, pagan)

Timotheus’ (Timothy’s) Good Report about the Church

17 But we, brethren (fellow believers), being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured (strived) the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul (Sha’ul), once and again; but Satan hindered us.

19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye (you) in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ (Aḏon Yahusha Ha’Mashiach) at his (His) coming?

20 For ye (you) are our glory and joy.

The Saviour of Israel (Yisrael)

43 But now thus saith (says) the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) that created thee (you), O Jacob (Ya’aqob), and he that formed thee (you), O Israel (Yisrael), Fear not: for I have redeemed thee (you), I have called thee (you) by thy (your) name; thou art mine (you are Mine).

When thou passest (you pass) through the waters, I will be with thee (you); and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee (you): when thou walkest (you walk) through the fire, thou shalt (you shall) not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

For I am the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) thy (your) God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), the Holy (Qadosh) One of Israel (Yisrael), thy (your) Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee (you).

Since thou wast (you were) precious in my sight, thou hast (you have) been honourable, and I have loved thee (you): therefore will I give men for thee (you), and people for thy (your) life.

Fear not: for I am with thee (you): I will bring thy (your) seed from the east, and gather thee (you) from the west;

I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea (yes), I have made him.

Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew (show) us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.

10 Ye (You) are my witnesses, saith (says) the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye (you) may know and believe me (Me), and understand that I am he (He): before me there was no God (El; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) formed, neither shall there be after me (Me).

11 I, even I, am the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah); and beside me (Me) there is no saviour.

12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed (showed), when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye (you) are my witnesses, saith (says) the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), that I am God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah).

13 Yea (Yes), before the day was I am he (He); and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

The LORD’S Promise of Victory

14 Thus saith (says) the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), your redeemer, the Holy (Qadosh) One of Israel (Yisrael); For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

15 I am the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), your Holy (Qadosh) One, the creator of Israel (Yisrael), your King.

16 Thus saith (says) the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), which maketh (makes) a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

17 Which bringeth (Who brings) forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.

18 Remember ye (you) not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye (you) not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew (show) forth my praise.

22 But thou hast (you have) not called upon me, O Jacob (Ya’aqob); but thou hast (you have) been weary of me, O Israel (Yisrael).

23 Thou hast not (You have not) brought me the small cattle of thy (your) burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy (your) sacrifices. I have not caused thee (you) to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee (you) with incense.

24 Thou hast (You have) bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy (your) sacrifices: but thou hast (you have) made me to serve with thy (your) sins, thou hast (you have) wearied me with thine iniquities (your sins).

25 I, even I, am he (He) that blotteth (blots) out thy (your) transgressions for mine (My) own sake, and will not remember thy (your) sins.

26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou (you), that thou mayest (you may) be justified.

27 Thy (Your) first father hath (has) sinned, and thy (your) teachers have transgressed against me (Me).

28 Therefore I have profaned (defiled) the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob (Ya’aqob) to the curse, and Israel (Yisrael) to reproaches (defamation and abuse).

Background music:-

44 Yet now hear, O Jacob (Ya’aqob) my servant; and Israel (Yisrael), whom I have chosen:

Thus saith (says) the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) that made thee (you), and formed thee (you) from the womb, which will help thee (you); Fear not, O Jacob (Ya’aqob), my servant; and thou (you), Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed (your descendants), and my blessing upon thine (your) offspring:

And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

One shall say, I am the Lord’s (I belong to Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) ; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob (Ya’aqob); and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), and surname himself by the name of Israel (Yisrael).

The Foolishness of Idols

Thus saith (says) the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) the King of Israel (Yisrael), and his redeemer the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah).

And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto (show to) them.

Fear ye (you) not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee (you) from that time, and have declared it? ye (you) are even my witnesses. Is there a God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) beside me (Me)? yea (yes), there is no God (Elohim; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah); I know not any.

They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

(NOTE: graven (adjective) = engraved / sculptured / incised / inscribed / carved)

10 Who hath (has) formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?

11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.

12 The smith with the tongs both worketh (works) in the coals, and fashioneth (fashions) it with hammers, and worketh (works) it with the strength of his arms: yea (yes), he is hungry, and his strength faileth (fails): he drinketh (drinks) no water, and is faint.

13 The carpenter stretcheth (stretches) out his rule; he marketh (marks) it out with a line; he fitteth (fits) it with planes, and he marketh (marks) it out with the compass, and maketh (makes) it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

14 He heweth (hews, cuts) him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth (strengthens) for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth (plants) an ash, and the rain doth (does) nourish it.

15 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea (yes), he kindleth (kindles, flames) it, and baketh (bakes) bread; yea (yes), he maketh (makes) a god, and worshippeth (worships) it; he maketh (makes) it a graven image, and falleth (falls) down thereto.

16 He burneth (burns) part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth (eats) flesh; he roasteth (roasts) roast, and is satisfied: yea (yes), he warmeth (warms) himself, and saith (says), Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:

17 And the residue thereof he maketh (makes) a god, even his graven image: he falleth (falls) down unto it, and worshippeth (worships) it, and prayeth (prays) unto it, and saith (says), Deliver me; for thou art (you are) my god.

18 They have not known nor understood: for he hath (has) shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

19 And none considereth (considers) in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea (yes), also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

20 He feedeth (feeds) on ashes: a deceived heart hath (has) turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

Restoration for Jerusalem (Yerushalayim)

21 Remember these, O Jacob (Ya’aqob) and Israel (Yisrael); for thou art my servant: I have formed thee (you); thou art my servant: O Israel (Yisrael), thou shalt (you shall) not be forgotten of me.

22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy (your) transgressions (sins), and, as a cloud, thy (your) sins: return unto me (Me); for I have redeemed thee (you).

23 Sing, O ye (you) heavens; for the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) hath (has) done it: shout, ye (you) lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye (you) mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) hath (has) redeemed Jacob (Ya’aqob), and glorified himself in Israel (Yisrael).

24 Thus saith (says) the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah), thy (your) redeemer, and he (He) that formed thee (you) from the womb, I am the Lord (Adonai; 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / Yahuah) that maketh (makes) all things; that stretcheth (stretches) forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth (spreads) abroad the earth by myself (Myself);

25 That frustrateth (frustrates) the tokens of the liars, and maketh (makes) diviners mad; that turneth (turns) wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

26 That confirmeth (confirms) the word of his servant, and performeth (performs) the counsel of his messengers; that saith (says) to Jerusalem (Yerushalayim), Thou shalt (You shall) be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye (You) shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

27 That saith (says) to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy (your) rivers:

28 That saith (says) of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem (Yerushalayim), Thou shalt (You shall) be built; and to the temple, Thy (Your) foundation shall be laid.

NOTES:-

1. SPELLING VERSION #1:-

Yeshua יֵשׁוּעַ (H3442 = He will save) is a shortened form of Yehoshooah / Yahushua יְהוֹשׁוּעַ (H3091 = God / Yah saves). EXAMPLE #1: Mike is a shortened form of Michael. EXAMPLE #2: Josh is a shortened form of Joshua.
