Woman Anoints Yahusha at Bethany

14 After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him (Him) by craft, and put him (Him) to death.

(NOTE: Passover, Feast of the (proper noun – as in the context of celebrated day / festival) = A sacred holiday observed by the believers of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah in Spring. This is to remind the day that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah passed over the houses of the people of Israel (Yisrael) during the 10th plague (death of firstborn) after pharaoh refused to let go of the Israelites slaves (Exodus 12:13, Exodus 12:27). This festival lasts seven or eight days from the 15th day of Nisan. This is one of the commandments given by 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah Himself (Exodus 12:2). The meal for Passover on the 14th day of the month of Nisan at twilight (evening sunset) is called Seder (The Last Supper in Luke 22:1-20). The Passover lamb in Egypt foreshadows Yahusha (the original name of the Messiah in the Hebrew language) our Passover Lamb. The blood of the Passover Lamb rescued the Hebrew firstborn from death [Exodus 12:1-28] during the execution of the 10th plague. Similarly, we are freed from the slavery (bonds) of sin by the blood of Yahusha (the original name of the Messiah in the Hebrew language))

But they said, Not on the feast day, lest (otherwise) there be an uproar of the people.

And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he (He) sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake (broke) the box, and poured it on his head.

(NOTE: spikenard (noun) = costly perfumed ointment much valued in ancient times)

And there were some that had indignation (anger, outrage) within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured (grumbled) against her.

And Yahusha said, Let her alone; why trouble ye (you) her? she hath wrought a good work on me (She has done a good work for Me).

For ye (you) have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye (you) will ye (you) may do them good: but me ye (you) have not always.

She hath (has) done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

Verily (Truly) I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath (has) done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

Judas Agrees to Betray Yahusha

10 And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve [12 disciples], went unto the chief priests, to betray him (Him) unto them.

11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought (seek) how he might conveniently betray him (Him).

The Passover Prepared

12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his (His) disciples said unto him (Him), Where wilt thou (will you) that we go and prepare that thou mayest (you may) eat the passover?

13 And he sendeth forth (He sent out) two of his (His) disciples, and saith unto (said to) them, Go ye (you) into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.

14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye (you) to the goodman of the house, The Master saith (said), Where is the guestchamber (guest room), where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

15 And he will shew (show) you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

16 And his (His) disciples went forth (out), and came into the city, and found as he (He) had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

17 And in the evening he cometh (He came) with the twelve (12 disciples).

18 And as they sat and did eat, Yahusha said, Verily (Truly) I say unto you, One of you which eateth (who eats) with me shall betray me.

19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?

20 And he (He) answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth (dips) with me in the dish.

21 The Son of man indeed goeth (goes), as it is written of him: but woe (great sorrow) to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

The Last Supper

22 And as they did eat, Yahusha took bread, and blessed, and brake (broke) it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my (My) body.

23 And he (He) took the cup, and when he (He) had given thanks, he (He) gave it to them: and they all drank of it.

24 And he (He) said unto them, This is my (My) blood of the new testament (covenant), which is shed for many.

25 Verily (Truly) I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah.

26 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

(NOTE: Balaam (proper noun) = Balaam was a wicked prophet in the Bible whose heart was not right with 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah (the Most High Creator). He betrayed Israel and lead them astray (Numbers 22-24)

Nevertheless 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim would not hearken unto (listen to) Balaam; but 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim turned the curse into a blessing unto thee (you), because 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim loved thee (you).

6 Thou shalt not (You shall not) seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy (your) days for ever.

Persons Included in the Congregation

The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah in their third generation.

10 If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth (chance) him [by some occurrence] by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:

11 But it shall be, when evening cometh (comes) on, he shall wash himself with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp again.

12 Thou shalt (You shall) have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt (you shall) go forth abroad:

13 And thou shalt (you shall) have a paddle upon thy (your) weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt (you will) ease thyself (yourself) abroad (outside), thou shalt (you shall) dig therewith, and shalt (shall) turn back and cover that which cometh (comes) from thee (you):

14 For 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim walketh (walks) in the midst of thy (your) camp, to deliver thee (you), and to give up thine (your) enemies before thee (you); therefore shall thy (your) camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee (you), and turn away from thee (you).

15 Thou shalt not (You shall not) deliver unto his master the servant which is escaped from his master unto thee (you):

16 He shall dwell with thee (you), even among you, in that place which he shall choose in one of thy (your) gates, where it liketh him best (where it seems best to him): thou shalt not oppress him (you shall not cause him hardship) .

Laws Concerning Usury

19 Thou shalt not (You shall not) lend upon usury (interest) to thy (your) brother; usury (interest) of money, usury (interest) of victuals (food or provisions), usury (interest) of any thing that is lent upon usury (interest):

20 Unto a stranger thou mayest (you may) lend upon usury (interest); but unto thy (your) brother thou shalt not (you shall not) lend upon usury (interest): that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim may bless thee (you) in all that thou settest thine (you set your) hand to in the land whither thou goest (to whichever place you go) to possess it.

Vows to be Honored

21 When thou shalt (you shall) vow a vow unto 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim, thou shalt (you shall) not slack to pay it: for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim will surely require it of thee (you); and it would be sin in thee (you).

22 But if thou shalt (you shall) forbear (abstain) to vow, it shall be no sin in thee (you).

23 That which is gone out of thy (your) lips thou shalt (you shall) keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast (you have) vowed unto 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim, which thou hast (you have) promised with thy (your) mouth.

24 When thou comest (you come) into thy (your) neighbour’s vineyard, then thou mayest (you may) eat grapes thy (your) fill at thine (your) own pleasure; but thou shalt not (you shall not) put any in thy (your) vessel.

25 When thou comest (When you come) into the standing corn of thy (your) neighbour, then thou mayest (you may) pluck the ears with thine (your) hand; but thou shalt not (you shall not) move a sickle unto thy (your) neighbour’s standing corn.

Laws Concerning Domestic Relations

24 When a man hath (has) taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath (has) found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife.

And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth (gives) it in her hand, and sendeth (sent) her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;

Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled (tainted); for that is abomination before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah: and thou shalt not (you shall not) cause the land to sin, which 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim giveth thee (is giving you) for an inheritance.

When a man hath (has) taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath (has) taken.

If a man be found stealing any of his brethren (brothers) of the children of Israel, and maketh (makes) merchandise of him, or selleth (sells)  him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt (you shall) put evil away from among you.

Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou (you) observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye (you) shall observe to do.

Remember what 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye (you) were come forth out of Egypt.

10 When thou dost (you do) lend thy (your) brother any thing, thou shalt not (you shall not) go into his house to fetch his pledge.

11 Thou shalt (You shall) stand abroad (outside), and the man to whom thou dost (you do) lend shall bring out the pledge (promise) abroad unto thee (out to you).

12 And if the man be poor, thou shalt not (you shall not) sleep with his pledge (promise):

13 In any case thou shalt (you shall) deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth (goes) down, that he may sleep in his own raiment (clothing), and bless thee (you): and it shall be righteousness unto thee (you) before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim.

14 Thou shalt not oppress (You shall not cause hardship to) an (a) hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren (your brothers), or of thy (your) strangers that are in thy land within thy (your) gates:

15 At his day thou shalt (you shall) give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth (has set) his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee (you) unto 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah, and it be sin unto thee (you).

16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

17 Thou shalt not (You shall not) pervert (corrupt) the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow’s raiment (clothing) to pledge:

18 But thou shalt (you shall) remember that thou wast a bondman (you were a slave) in Egypt, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim redeemed thee (you) thence: therefore I command thee (you) to do this thing.

19 When thou cuttest (When you cut) down thine (your) harvest in thy (your) field, and hast forgot (have forgotten) a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not (you shall not) go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim may bless thee (you) in all the work of thine (your) hands.

20 When thou beatest thine (When you beat your) olive tree, thou shalt not (you shall not) go over the boughs (main branch) again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

21 When thou gatherest (When you gather) the grapes of thy (your) vineyard, thou shalt not (you shall not) glean (gather (grain), reap) it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

22 And thou shalt (you shall) remember that thou wast a bondman (you were a slave) in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee (you) to do this thing.

Laws Concerning Human Relations

25 If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.

Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy (your) brother should seem vile (extremely unpleasant) unto thee (you).

4 Thou shalt not (You shall not) muzzle the ox when he treadeth (treads) out the corn.

Duty of a Husbands Brother

If brethren (brothers) dwell (live) together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an (a) husband’s brother unto her.

And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth (bears) shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.

And if the man like not to take his brother’s wife, then let his brother’s wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband’s brother refuseth (refuses) to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband’s brother.

Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;

Then shall his brother’s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother’s house.

10 And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath (has) his shoe loosed.

Immodest Women

11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth (draws) near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth (attacks) him, and putteth forth (puts out) her hand, and taketh (takes) him by the secrets:

(AMP BIBLE: 11 “If two men fight together, and the wife of one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of the one attacking him, and puts out her hand and seizes him by the genitals,)

12 Then thou shalt (you shall) cut off her hand, thine (your) eye shall not pity her.

Just Weights

13 Thou shalt not (You shall not) have in thy (your) bag divers weights, a great and a small.

16 For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim.

Blot Out Amalek

17 Remember what Amalek did unto thee (you) by the way, when ye (you) were come forth out of Egypt;

18 How he met thee (you) by the way, and smote (attacked) the hindmost (furthest back) of thee (you), even all that were feeble (frail, weak) behind thee (you), when thou wast (you were) faint and weary; and he feared not Elohim / Aluahym.

19 Therefore it shall be, when 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim hath (has) given thee (you) rest from all thine (your) enemies round about, in the land which 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah your Elohim giveth thee (is giving you) for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt (you shall) blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not (you shall not) forget it.

Beware lest any man (Beware, otherwise others may) spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit (deception), after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ (following the elementary principles of this world, rather than following [the truth—the teachings of] Mashiach).

(AMP BIBLE: 1 Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly].)

For with what judgment ye (you) judge, ye (you) shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete (you punish), it shall be measured to you again.

(AMP BIBLE: 2 For just as you [hypocritically] judge others [when you are sinful and unrepentant], so will you be judged; and in accordance with your standard of measure [used to pass out judgment], judgment will be measured to you.)

And why beholdest thou the mote (And why do you look at the tiny piece / speck) that is in thy (your) brother’s eye, but considerest (consider / notice) not the beam (long timber / log) that is in thine (your) own eye?

Or how wilt thou (will you) say to thy (your) brother, Let me pull out the mote (tiny piece / speck) out of thine (your) eye; and, behold, a beam (long timber / log) is in thine (your) own eye?

Thou (You) hypocrite, first cast (throw) out the beam out of thine (your) own eye; and then shalt thou see (shall you) clearly to cast (throw) out the mote (tiny piece / speck) out of thy (your) brother’s eye.

17 For 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH Yahuah sent not his (did not send His) Son into the world to condemn (disapprove) the world; but that the world through him (Him) might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him (believes [and] decided to trust Him [as personal Savior and Adon]) is not condemned: but he that believeth not believeth (but he that does not believe) is condemned already, because he hath (has) not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah [which is Yahusha ha’Mashiach].
