A) WHAT IS THE MEANING OF SCAM?

Although many warnings have been circulated regarding this matter, many are still being deceived and scammed. Sadly, many people’s lives have been destroyed and even got arrested and were locked up behind bars due to the hackers’ traps.
Always remember that HACKERS can even disguise links which look as if they are from the government, banks, job opportunities or even business opportunities. Hackers are constantly using different scam techniques and creating new techniques.
Some sophisticated hackers will also be able to send messages from the phone numbers of family members and friends to scam their victims. Some are able to change their voices by using a voice change device / software.
Worst of all is the scammers will even use your family members and friends to do the scamming without them being aware that they have been used by the scammers. Therefore, stay alert and be very wise.
B) PREVENTION
Remember the golden advice:-
- NEVER click on random links.
- NEVER answer calls from the people that you do not know unless you know that you are expecting an important call from a trusted person/source.
- NEVER give out your passwords and important details to anyone (including the people you know).
- Use the block & report feature on your phone for suspicious incoming calls and text messages.
C) SOLUTION
Here is a step-by-step guide of what you can do if you have already fallen into the hacker’s trap:-
STEP #1) Go make a police report immediately.
STEP #2) Buy the police report (hardcopy).
STEP #3) Photostat the police report into 3 copies. Keep them in different places (Example: 1 in the car, 1 in your wallet and 1 in the house)
STEP #4) Scan the original copy and save it into pdf format as a softcopy.
STEP #5) Keep the softcopy (pdf format) in your phone, your laptop / computer hard drive and pen drive (thumb drive).
STEP #6) Terminate the existing mobile number.
STEP #7) Get a new number.
