6) straitened = Characterized by poverty, impoverished, poor, unable to make ends meet.
7) thou = Archaic or dialect form of you, as the singular subject of a verb.
8) runnest = Archaic second person singular simple present form of run.
9) shalt = Archaic second person singular of shall.
10) dost = Archaic second person singular present of do
11) froward = (adjective) (Archaic) (of a person) difficult to deal with, disobedient, fractious, wayward, unmanageable, irritable, readily angered, quarrelsome, stubborn, touchy
12) shineth = Archaic third person singular simple present indicative form of shine.
13) perverse = (of a person or their actions) showing a deliberate and obstinate desire to behave in a way that is unreasonable or unacceptable, often in spite of the consequences.
14) diligence = Careful and persistent work or effort.
15) incline = Feel willing or favorably disposed toward (an action, belief, or attitude).
16) just = Based on or behaving according to what is morally right and fair.
PROVERBS 4 (King James Version)
OVERVIEW OF PROVERBS CHAPTER 4: These are wise teachings of an earthly Father to his child as how our heavenly Father would like us to learn as His children.
1 Hear, ye (YOU) children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
= LISTEN TO YOUR FATHER’S ADVICE. LEARN THE COMMANDMENTS TO GET UNDERSTANDING / WISDOM / KNOWLEDGE.
2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye (YOU) not my law.
= BECAUSE I, YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER, GIVE YOU SOUND TEACHINGS. DO NOT ABANDON / DENY / DECLINE MY LAW.
3 For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
= BECAUSE I WAS MY FATHER’S SON, TENDER AND VERY MUCH LOVED IN MY MOTHER’S EYES.
4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine (YOUR) heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
= MY FATHER HAD ALSO TAUGHT ME AND SAID “LET YOUR HEART HOLD TO MY TEACHINGS, SECURE MY COMMANDMENTS AND LIVE.”
5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
= GET WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING. DO NOT FORGET IT OR DENY MY TEACHINGS.
6 Forsake her (WISDOM) not, and she shall preserve thee (YOU): love her (WISDOM), and she shall keep thee (YOU).
= DO NOT FORSAKE / ABANDON / DENY / DECLINE WISDOM. LOVE WISDOM AND IT WILL LOVE YOU. THIS WAY, YOU WILL BE SAFE.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy (YOUR) getting get understanding.
= WISDOM IS THE RULE OF PERSONAL CONDUCT, SO GET WISDOM: AND WHILE DOING THAT, MAKE EFFORT TO LEARN AND UNDERSTAND IT.
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee (YOU): she shall bring thee (YOU) to honour, when thou dost (DO) embrace her.
= PRAISE / GLORIFY / HONOR WISDOM AND IT WILL CONTRIBUTE GROWTH TO YOU. IT WILL BRING YOU GOOD REPUTATION / DIGNITY.
9 She shall give to thine (YOUR) head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee (YOU).
= WISDOM WILL EQUIP / ADORN YOUR BRAIN WITH GRACE WHICH WISDOM WILL GIVE YOU A CROWN OF GLORY.
10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy (YOUR) life shall be many.
= TAKE HEED TO MY TEACHINGS MY SON / MY CHILD SO YOU MAY LIVE LONG.
11 I have taught thee (YOU) in the way of wisdom; I have led thee (YOU) in right paths.
= I HAVE TAUGHT YOU THE WAY OF WISDOM. I HAVE LED YOU IN THE RIGHT WAY TO LIVE.
12 When thou (YOU) goest (GO), thy (YOUR) steps shall not be straitened (POOR); and when thou (YOU) runnest (RUN), thou (YOU) shalt (SHALL) not stumble.
= WHEN YOU GO, YOUR STEPS WILL NOT WILL POOR. WHEN YOU RUN, YOU WILL NOT MAKE ERRORS IN LIFE.
13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy (YOUR) life.
= BE DIGILENT / REMAIN SECURELY ADHERED TO THE INSTRUCTION / GUIDELINE. DO NOT LET IT GO: KEEP IT; BECAUSE IT IS YOUR LIFE.
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
= DO NOT GO INTO THE ROUTE / TRACK OF THOSE WHO ARE WICKED/SINFUL AND PARTAKE IN WHAT THEY DO.
15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
= DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM AND THEIR SINFUL WAYS / STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
= BECAUSE THEY CANNOT REST UNTIL THEY HAVE CAUSED OTHERS TO SIN.
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
= BECAUSE THE WICKED PRACTICES WICKEDNESS AND ARE ENJOYING VIOLENCE / AGGRESSION / WILDNESS / FORCE / FIERCENESS / FURIOUSNESS.
18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth (SHINE) more and more unto the perfect day.
= THOSE WHO ARE BEHAVING ACCORDING TO WHAT IS MORALLY RIGHT AND FAIR WILL HAVE A CLEAR AND BRIGHT WAY/ROUTE AND PERFECT LIFE.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
= THOSE WHO WICKED ARE DARKNESS AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT ARE CAUSE THEM TO FALL SPIRITUALLY.
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine (YOUR) ear unto my sayings.
= MY SON / MY CHILD, REGARD WITH ATTENTION TO OUR TEACHINGS.
21 Let them not depart from thine (YOUR) eyes; keep them in the midst of thine (YOUR) heart.
= KEEP YOUR EYES ON MY INSTRUCTIONS AT ALL TIMES AND IN OUR HEARTS:-

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
= THOSE WHO FOUND WISDOM IN GOD WILL FIND ETERNAL LIFE WITH GOD AND WILL HAVE GOOD HEALTH.
23 Keep thy (YOUR) heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
= LET YOUR HEARTS BE CAREFUL AND IN PERSISTENT EFFORT SPIRITUALLY AT ALL TIMES BECAUSE THE HEART CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS.
24 Put away from thee (YOUR) a froward (QUARRELSOME) mouth, and perverse (unreasonable) lips put far from thee (YOU).
= DO NOT LET YOUR MOUTH CAUSE DIFFICULTIES TO OTHERS,
DO NOT LET OUR QUARRELSOME MOUTH CAUSE OTHERS TO SEE US AS UNREASONABLE PEOPLE.
25 Let thine (YOUR) eyes look right on, and let thine (YOUR) eyelids look straight before thee (YOU).
= KEEP YOUR EYES FOCUSED STRAIGHT ON GOD, JESUS, HOLY SPIRIT.
26 Ponder the path of thy (YOUR) feet, and let all thy (YOUR) ways be established.
= THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE MAKING A DECISION OR REACHING A CONCLUSION. BE GROUNDED FIRM ON THE SPIRITUAL ROCK (GOD, JESUS, HOLY SPIRIT).
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy (YOUR) foot from evil.
= DO NOT BE EASILY DISTRACTED, DEPART FROM EVIL.
