The Fruit of the Spirit

SCRIPTURE

Galatians 5:22-23 (King James Version)
22 But the fruit of the Ruach (Spirit) is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

WHAT IS THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT?

This Fruit of the Ruach (NOTE: ‘Fruit, not plural ‘Fruits’) is not an edible fruit but rather a spiritual fruit. It is found in the book of Galatians chapter 5 verse 22 to 23 (Galatians 5:22-23). The Fruit of the Ruach (Spirit) is a guide to help us have a good overall character as a Christian or a believer in Christ.

It is a spiritual fruit consisting the 9 characteristics that the followers of the Most High Creator יהוה / 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 / YHUH / Yahuah must have or bear. A person who bears the Fruit of the Ruach IS a born again follower because they show the evidence of true repentance.

(NOTE: True repentance = Involves feelings of regret, turning away from evil and not repeating the sin)

The Fruit of the Spirit must not be mistaken with Aluahim’s characteristics/attributes because we are the ones who are supposed to bear the 9 characteristics in the Fruit of the Spirit. We will talk about God’s characteristics/attributes in another article.

EXAMPLE: ‘Love’ in the context of the Fruit of the Spirit actually means that we must love others as how we love ourselves (having unselfish care and concern for others) whereas ‘Love’ in the context of Aluahim’s attribute means He loves us because He created us.

There are nine (9) characteristics altogether that make the Fruit of the Spirit. Therefore, the correct term to use is “Fruit of the Ruach“ (as in the Bible), not ‘Fruits of the Spirit’.

Below is the list of the Fruit of the Ruach in the Bible in point form:-

THE FRUIT OF THE RUACH:-

1. love (unselfish concern for others)
2. joy (inner)
3. peace
4. longsuffering (patience – not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting)
5. gentleness
6. goodness
7. faith (to have faith in Aluahim / Elohim; to trust Aluahim / Elohim)
8. meekness (humbleness)
9. temperance (self-control)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Anything that is not listed in the list of The Fruit of the Ruach is definitely not from Aluahim / Elohim. This is the wisdom and discernment that Yahuah has given to us. 

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FRUIT OF THE RUACH:-

The Word of Aluahim / Elohim teaches us wisdom by reminding us that we will know the if a person is a child of YAHUAH simply by the fruits (characteristics) that they bear:-

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith (says) unto me, Adon, Adon (Master, Master), shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Adon, Adon (Master, Master), have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy (your) name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye (you) that work iniquity.

Example: A person bearing the fruit of lust of the flesh is not walking in the Ruach and thus ending up not being able to resist sinful temptations:-

This I say then, Walk in the Ruach, and ye (you) shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

QUESTION: So how do we build our Mashiach-like characteristics or The Fruit of the Ruach in us? 

ANSWER:-

1) Abide (stay in) in the Scripture at all times and studying deeply and carefully. As children of Yahuah, His Word is our spiritual food:-

Matthew 4:4 (King James Version – KJV)
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of Aluahim / Elohim.

2) Abide in Jesus because He is our vine:-

John 15:4-11 (King James Version – KJV)
4 Abide in me (Me), and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye (you), except ye (you) abide in me (Me).

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth (abides / remain) in me (Me), and I in him, the same bringeth (brings) forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye (you) abide in me (Me), and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye (you) in my love.

10 If ye (you) keep my commandments (My Commandments), ye (you) shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Ruach ha’Qodesh (the Set-Apart Spirit of the Most High Creator) will teach us and remind us not to sin against Aluahim / Elohim:-

HOW TO HELP THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE THE FRUIT OF THE RUACH?:-

22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Prayer: Abba Father, please help me to be filled with the FRUIT OF THE RUACH so that others can see that I am Your true child. I want to learn to be like Yahusha. Help me not to be influenced by the worldly things or thoughts and be corrupted by the opposites of the Fruit of the Ruach. Help me to be disciplined in reading Your Word (the Bible) and help me cultivate a good habit of praying daily so I can bear good fruits (characteristics). In Yahush’a name I pray. Amen
