WHAT ARE THE NINE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT?
Below is the list of the nine (9) fruits of the spirit in the Bible. The fruits of the spirit are not the edible fruits but spiritual fruits. It is found in the book of Galatians chapter 5 verse 22 to 23. These nine spiritual fruits are for us to have a good overall character as a Christian or a believer in Christ. We live in a challenging world so God gave us these nine (9) fruits of the spirit as a guide, namely:-
1. love [unselfish concern for others]
2. joy [inner]
4. patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting]
Galatians 5:22-23 Amplified Bible (AMP)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Sometimes we hear Christians saying “You will know a person by his/her ‘fruits'”. However, we must always remember that sometimes Christians or believers may fall or become weak at certain point of a challenging moment or during a certain time in their lives. When this happens, we should not judge them (Matthew 7:1) and treat them like an outcast but uphold them in prayer and guide them instead so they can come back to the right path. God has taught us to be kind to others and to encourage them (Ephesians 4:32, John 13:34-35). We are to forgive 70X7 times (a symbolic expression phrase for infinity number of time that we must forgive others) as in the Bible below to anybody who does wrong.
Matthew 18:22 New King James Version (NKJV)
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
We may never know that one day this person will be a strong Christian someday and helping others all because of you have helped him or her to come back to the right path somewhere along the way. So a little kindness can be a great blessing in the end.
Prayer: Father Lord, open our eyes, heart and mind so that we can learn from You each day. May we bring good news, blessings, healing & encouragement to others. Amen
